Registration open for 2018 Plastics and Paper Recycling Conference

Now in its 19th year, the event is the longest-running conference and trade show in the paper and plastics recycling industry.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -Recycling Today magazine has announced that registration is now open for the 2018 Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference. The paper and plastic segments of the recycling industry have been particularly challenged by scrap import policy changes in China. This three-day event on Oct. 17-19 in Chicago will give attendees and speakers an opportunity to come together to share how they are responding to these challenges.

The conference starts Wednesday, Oct. 17, with concurrent sessions at 1:30 p.m. that include a session looking at stabilizers and additives and how they impact plastics reprocessing.

The first day will also feature a to-be-announced keynote session that begins at 4 p.m. For an additional fee, attendees can also attend the session “Deep Dive into China’s Impact.” Representatives from Moore & Associates, Atlanta, will discuss how actions out of China have affected the global recycling market in this can’t-miss session.

Day two will feature an assortment of sessions, including:

  • "Investments in Domestic Plastic Processing," which will look at China’s ban on plastic scrap imports into the country and how domestic and international companies are investing in North American reprocessing capacity.
  • "The Impact of AI on Processing and Quality," is a roundtable discussion that will cover the pros and cons of employing artificial intelligence in a MRF’s operations.
  • "Transportation," will give insight on how transportation has a significant effect on recyclers’ profitability.

On Friday, Oct. 19 – the final day of the conference – attendees will learn about OCC (old corrugated containers) and the future of China’s paper business in the last session of the event.

More information on the conference, including how to register, can be found on the event website. Attendees who register by Aug. 2 will receive early bird registration pricing.
